Which is better - bus or train? I realize the train stops in Antequera and then you take a bus from there to Granada. Does the travel time on the Renfe site include the bus (shuttle) ride from Antequera? Is the train station in Antequera next to the bus station (maybe it's a shuttle?) and if not then how do you get to the bus that goes to Granada? My hotel in Sevilla is close to the train station but the bus station is about 1.25 miles away from my hotel. My hotel in Granada is about 1.25 miles from Calle Prol. Halcon where Google maps shows the rail station. If I have the correct address for the ALSA bus station, Avenida de Juan Pablo II, it's about 5.5 miles from my hotel in Granada so a taxi would cost more than one from the train station. However, the ALSA bus has more times available from Sevilla to Granada than the train and it's less expensive.
Lundy,
Which is better - bus or train?
You can't go wrong with either choice. We opted to take the bus only because I thought it would be easier not to deal with the transfer in Antequera. I was traveling with my 88 year mother at the time.

Yes, the travel time indicated on the Renfe site includes the bus ride from Antequera to Granada.
The bus is provided by Renfe, and it will be waiting at the Antequera train station, and passengers are guided from the train to the bus.

This is true!
My mom and I took an ALSA bus from Córdoba to Granada, and then from Granada to Sevilla.
You're correct, the bus station is farther away, than the train station, from Granada's historic center.
We took a taxi from the bus station to our hotel near Plaza Nueva and paid about €10 back in 2015.
Don't forget to book your Alhambra tickets! You can book them up to 3 months in advance for best time selection.
Enjoy your time in beautiful Spain!
We opted for the bus on this route for our upcoming trip. As you say, it's a bit cheaper and there are more trips per day via the bus. When you factor in the need to transfer from the train to the bus as a result of the rail construction, it seemed to be more logical to simply board the bus once and be done with it. The overall travel time is about the same either method as far as I could tell.
Elizabeth,
I did the trip from Sevilla to Granada in 2015 on train. RENFE had things pretty organize at Antequera. You got out of the train, walked to the outside of the not-crowded station and climb on the buses that were already waiting for you. When I did it, the bus went to the Granada train station, not to the bus station. I would guess that is still true today since the buses is a service provided by RENFE. Have fun.
