Best way to get from Segovia to Madrid Airport

It appears as if we could take a train from Segovia into Madrid, possibly Chamartin station, and then another train from there to the airport. Does anyone know of a better option?

The train covers the 57-mile distance between the two train stations in 28 minutes. Even though you'll still need to get from Madrid-Chamartin to the airport, I suspect a solution involving a train will be best. It might depend on what time you need/want to leave Segovia, though, because on occasion the trains are more than an hour apart.

The C1 Cercanias line runs frequently between Chamartin and Terminal 4 at the airport.

We just did a similar transfer last week. We took a cab from our hotel to the Segovia station. From there, we took the train to Madrid Charmatin station. We then needed to get to Atocha station - not the airport. But the details are the same. My research told me that we could use our Segovia-Madrid-Barcelona long distance ticket to get a free Cercanias ticket at the Charmatin station using a 6 letter code on our tickets. I located the machine and entered the code, but could not get the free tickets. I went to a station agent and she said the tickets were not required anymore and just go get on a train.

We did that - but when we got to Atocha station we, of course, did not have valid tickets to scan us out through the turnstiles. Another gate agent saw our problem and let us out.

Not sure that’s helpful but just wanted you to know. It might be simplest to just buy the Cercanias ticket. The Charmatin station is not that big and it’s got good signage as to where the airport trains are.

Changing at Chamartin is probably the best option.

The free connection to the Circanias train Valerie speaks of is only an option if the train from Segovia is one of the ALVIA (high speed) trains, which not all trains between the two cities are.

If you do have to pay for the Circanias train, save yourself 3 minutes at the machine and 50 centimos per ticket by using the 'contactless' turnstiles.

Any Circanias schedule you might see is... fiction. The trains to the airport run every 15 mins or so. They do not run on the actual timing published.
