Hi there!
Just need some advice on how to get from Hondarribia in the Spanish Basque area to Bayonne in France - grateful for any suggestions
Thanks very much
Don't know where in Hondarribia you are coming from. I see an E25 bus to Irun-Colon Euskotren station where you can connect across the river to the Hendaye, France train station and get a train to Bayonne. Or, just take a taxi from Hondarribia to Hendaye station.
Are you talking about the airport area? We took a taxi last year from the Hondarribia airport ( San Sebastian’s airport) to the train station in Hendaye and then the train to Bayonne. Not sure when you are doing this, but we arrived on a Sunday and there was a race in San Sebastián so any kind of transportation took longer to get to the airport. We just got tickets at the Hendaye station kiosk for the next train.
Thank you both for your replies. I am planning to stay in Hondarribia after San Sebastian, then going to Bayonne, and was trying to figure out the best way to get there!
You’ll want to go to the Hendaye SNCF train station on the French side of the river from Hondaribbia. which is on the Spanish side and is about 4 miles away. Getting a taxi is the way to go because a taxi will get you there in 10 minutes whereas taking the bus involves catching one bus to Irun in Spain and then transferring to another bus going to Hendaye. This circuitous route takes about 40 minutes.
From Hendaye, French trains reach Bayonne in 30 minutes.
