Best transportation from BCN to Hyatt Barcelona Tower

My husband and I are having our dream 50th anniversary trip beginning in Barcelona. I'm confused about the easiest way to get to our hotel. We'll be arriving around 1:00 pm (13:00) on Sunday, September 17.
I've read countless bits of info and looked at the maps but it's still confusing.

“best” is subjective. A taxi would certainly be easiest.

Actually, looking at that location, there would be fewer options that one might have going closest to the city center. The hotel is not central.

You may have good reasons for staying at this hotel, but most would prefer a hotel closer to the city, not an American hotel at the airport.

We would love to stay at a more local hotel but this one is free with rewards points....trying to be frugal as much as possible.

Scudder, 'best' is the cheapest, fastest and closest to the hotel....if there is such a thing. :)

I’d suggest reaching out tot he concierge. They’ll surely have the most appropriate solution.

Thank you! And do you recommend getting a metro pass of some kind? Since we'll be so far from downtown and will be there 3 days.

You will certainly want to get a metro pass—it looks like you'll be between the last two stops on line 1. I know the options for passes have changed since I was last there, but I'm sure you can find that online.

The closest Metro to your hotel is the Hospital de Bellvitge. You would take the L1 Metro towards Fondo to get to central Barcelona where the tourist sites are. Placa de Catalunya is a central area to get off at and then walk to the Gothic Quarter, down the Las Ramblas walk the Passeig de Gracia. For Sagrada Familia, you would take the L1 metro and transfer to the L5 at Placa de Sants.
I would buy a T-Casual ticket (€11.35) that has 10 journeys on it but each person needs a ticket. It is not shareable. (and not valid from the airport.)
From the airport, I'd take a pre-arranged taxi to your hotel, since you. have luggage, will be jet-lagged and don't know the geography of the area. Taking the local bus (but not the aeropuerto bus) or the metro with luggage is an invitation for pickpockets to target you.

Well… the T-Casual IS valid from the Airport, but not when using the Metro — you CAN use it on the RENFE trains which run every half-hour from the rail station near Terminal 2.
