I will be traveling by myself for about 5 days in Spain in December. I'm not sure yet whether I will book a 5 day tour or just daily excursions. Can anyone recommend reputable tour companies? Also I'm undecided as to what area in Spain would be best to visit that time of year. I'm considering Barcelona. I'd appreciate thoughts/opinions very much as plan this out. I should add I'm not real comfortable traveling by myself. Thank you.
We have had wonderful tours hiring guides from Rick Steves guidebooks!
Rick Steves guidebook suggestions are good but they are not comprehensive and don't include many great tour companies. Read up to date reviews for all of the tour companies on offer in a city, on Trip Advisor.
Thank you...great idea! Trip Advisor
You can start get a taste of Barcelona highlights at http://www.ricksteves.com/europe/spain/barcelona, but then I suggest you do use Rick's guidebook for more practical details. The book seems to me the most condensed and efficient place to start your research, whether in the end you decide to travel on your own or with a group. It recommends local private guides and excursion companies, but does not address full, 5-day tours.
