Best option for post-cruise Spain

I will be travelling with 5 adults at the end of November. Our cruise ends in Tenerife and we have 5 days to spend in Spain until our flight to the US leaves from Madrid. Suggestions of what not to miss? Where to fly into from Tenerife? Thanks!

There are two airports on Tenerife. The North one is closer to the cruise port. We chose to stay on Tenerife for a few days, but it's a long haul back to Madrid, with limited departures, some at the crack of dawn. Also, Tenerife is overdeveloped. Have you been to mainland Spain before? Did the cruise stop there before?

Edit: I am fond of Madrid, and with daytrips in the area, it's good for four NIGHTS. I wouldn't schep to Barcelona on this trip because Windstar uses that port a lot, too! Posters here say the churros aren't as good as they used to be.

I have never been to Tenerife so I am not familiar with their airports/flights. If you are leaving from Madrid you have several options

-fly into Barcelona, see it, and then at the end of your 5 days take the train to Madrid to go home. You will probably need to spend that last night in Madrid, unless your flight is very late in the day. Barcelona is a wonderful city to visit.

-fly into Madrid and see it, be sure to do a day or one night in Toledo or Segovia (an hour, give or take, from Madrid). Madrid is nice, great art, and either of the other 2 are full of history and smaller-city charm

-fly into Sevilla. Visit it and Cordoba (day trip or one night, 45 min from Sevilla). Sevilla is beautiful, home of Flamenco and really what we think of as "Spanish". Cordoba is charming and has an amazing historic Mesquita. Then, same as Barcelona, back to Madrid on the fast train.

I'd go Sevilla!

As a hater of chilly weather, I'd opt for southern Spain, too. Central Spain (including Madrid) would probably be cooler than Barcelona. All three of the suggested areas have enough to keep you busy for far longer than 5 days, so you can't go wrong.

Shannon,
Great advice from Tim, Mira & Acraven.

I'd suggest checking available flights here:https://www.skyscanner.com

Given your limited time, I'd fly to Seville (2 hour nonstop flight from Tenerife North), spend a couple of days, then a couple of days in Córdoba. Night before flight in Madrid.

Another option, as Mira aready suggested, would be to fly to Madrid & take day trips or...
I'd advice spending a couple of days in beautiful Toledo!

The cruise sounds wonderful, enjoy!
