Best Neighborhood to stay in Valencia?

Family of four (2 younger teens) looking to stay 2 days in an Airbnb in Valencia.
Would love suggestions on the best area to stay in. Looking at Russafa or El Carmen. But open to suggestions.
Would like a walkable area. One with lots of restaurants, shops, and coffee shops.

Also, We do have an early am departure on the AVE out of Joaquin Sorrolla. Looking at maps, it looks like we would need to take a taxi to the train station. I don't think it looks walkable even in Russafa? If our train departs at 8:30, what time should we arrive? And do we purchase tickets in advance?

I don't know Valenciam at all, but I do know that buying AVE tickets well in advance may yield significant savings.

Good to know.
We will be there in departing in October. So too early to book. Just signed up for a notification.

You may not get too many answers as Valencia is sadly not very popular here. I would recommend as close to the city center as possible. Russafa is close and as I recall not a bad area to stay and has lots of transit. But I didn't spend any time there. I don't know where El Carmen is.

There is a shuttle that goes from Valencia Nord Station to the Ave station. Or you can taxi. Arrival should be 30 minutes prior to departure: you do go through some minimal security and gates close a few minutes prior to departure.

As noted, buy your AVE tickets in advance for discounted prices. You'll need to use Paypal as RENFE doesn't play nice with US credit cards. Discounted tickets are typically based on non-refundable (cheapest) or exchangeable (cheaper than full price tickets).
