Does anyone have any experience buying a SIM Card in Barcelona for an unlocked Verizon iPhone?
Which Phone Company in the Barcelona area provides the best Service/ Plan for Phone and DATA?
Am I better to purchase at the Airport or in town.
I'm not totally sure about this, but I've heard Yoigo is the best carrier - at least according to https://nomadlist.com/barcelona-spain/info
Ron,
You can get set up with a SIM card that will meet your needs at any of the phone stores in the city.
The main providers in Spain are; Movistar, Vodafone, Orange & Yoigo.
When we visited Spain last year, we bought a Lebara SIM card (in Madrid), & it worked well for us.
Here is Lebara's website for more information: http://www.lebara.es
Perhaps Enric ( from Barcelona), will see your post & provide more pertinent information.
Enjoy your trip!
We bought a SIM card for our unlocked phones at Vodaphone store near Playa de Catalunya the morning after our arrival but we never considered the airport. We had been travelling a long time (Vancouver; London; Barcelona) so just wanted to get to our accommodation and get some real food (and a glass of wine). The staff were excellent and obviously very used to helping tourists and set up our phones and explained everything in English for us. The pricing was excellent and although we used our phones constantly for Google Maps and to check opening hours etc. we never came close to our data limit. My vote would be to wait until you are oriented enough you can retain the instructions they give you and understand the various packages on offer.
