Become a Spanish Art Aficionado

One of Rick's Spanish tour guides, Federico Barroso, is hosting daily 1 hour tours on line with a focus on Spanish Art. The tours include highlights from The Prado and Reina Sofia. Having had the pleasure of a taking Rick's "Best of Barcelona and Madrid" tour with Federico as our guide, I have many fond memories of that experience - especially when the focus was on Art (and wine).

Almost exactly a year ago, we spent 1 and 1/2 days at the Prado, Reina Sofia, and Thyssen. Wow! All within walking distance of each other.

How many people think the Prado is one of the three or so best general art museums for "Western" art, in the world?

How many think it's a candidate for #1?

The Context Travel tourguide for their Prado 'walking seminar' did her thesis on Tiziano (Titian) so I strongly recommend using Context if you want the long version of the Prado tour. They are also offering online seminar talks during the current shelter-in-place situation.

We were on a self guided tour of Madrid in 2016. We had the pleasure of visiting the Prado, Thyssen and Reina Sofía. As mentioned up thread all within walking distance of each other. Wonderful masterpieces... The highlight of Madrid.

Apparently one of the things the Spanish king did with the silver fortunes they were getting from the "New World" was to buy art-- and we get to see some of that art at the Prado.
