Hi we're planning a mid -end of September trip to see all of the main sites but would love a day at the beach. If it's warm enough, which beach would you suggest that isn't super touristy? We do want to see Cadiz, so maybe near there? Thanks!!!!!
If you are driving, I would recommend the beach at Cabo Trafalgar: beautiful, and historically significant (site of Trafalgar battle during Napoleonic wars).
If you aren't driving, then the string of beaches that extend south of Cadiz is really beautiful and there is a lot of space. For example, Playa de la cortadura is easily reached by taxi or suburban train (to be replaced by a light rail).
There are beaches in Cadiz. Across the bay, both Rota and Chipiona have beaches. Be aware that the tourist season ends about when you are there and many restaurants and stores in smaller towns close. Further east, the Costa Del Sol will remain open. Near Tarifa is Punta Paloma and east of Malaga is Motril and Salobreña. There are plenty of choices.
Thank you so much for replying! Can you recommend a way to know in advance which towns would be pretty closed up? We love to stay off the beaten track but not if there’s nowhere to eat😉
I only know from experience driving the coast over the years. Any decent sized city should be open. We enjoyed Mojácar, but few restaurants were open and it’s way off most tourists radar. It’s also not near any of the popular tourist towns or cities.
