Beach trip from Granada

We will be in Granada in mid April and were really hoping to take a day trip to a beach. Does anyone have any suggestions for which is the best beach for a day trip? We will also be traveling here via public transport so if anyone also has information regarding train/buses to these places, that would be greatly appreciated!

You can do a day trip to Malaga using the ALSA buses. Just be sure to purchase a round trip to guarantee a return seat. Buses are comfortable with restrooms and leave just about every hour. One way is about 1 1/2-2 hours and tickets are about 15 euros RT.

Before you decide to take a day trip to Málaga, or any other coastal city, check the weather because I believe the water will still be too cold in mid April... Don't know if you were planning to go in the water at the beach.

I do hope you've booked your Alhambra tickets!

Enjoy your trip!

Edit to add....

I just found this website where you can find the sea temperature for Málaga.

No sense going to Malaga for a day trip to the beach. Straight down the A44 from Granada are the beach towns of Salobreña and Motril. I have to assume there would be bus service to it, but I had a rental car when I last went to Salobreña in 2014.

Thank you everyone for your responses, we'll be sure to check the temperature before hand!

And yes, we bought our Alhambra tickets well ahead of time :)

What is the reason for visiting the beach? April is not a time for lounging on the beach, the sea is far too cold to swim in and the Costa Del Sol can be quite breezy which would bring the temperature down a bit more. I've been to the Costa Del Sol many times during Easter and the weather can be unpredictable, it's rained for an entire week whilst other times I've been able to sunbathe around a (heated) pool albeit sheltered from the wind. If you want to go to the beach and walk along the promenades then that'll be fine, you'll find plenty to do although my experience is primarily from the west of Malaga, mainly Estepona, Marbella etc. which would be too far on public transport.
