My wife and I, along with our two children will be flying into Madrid and after a few days we would like to head to the coast to stay before heading north to Barcelona. We are looking for a smaller town, that still has plenty of restaurants and some nightlife. Neither of my RS books has much to say about the area. We have traveled to Spain several times, so we don't mind outta the way kind of places. Thanks for any tips.

I spent a week in Denia with my adult daughter. It's not a huge place and I like the area better than further south on the coast. It has some nice beaches that are easily accessed. As you get closer to Benidorm, you would likely get more night life, but it's nothing but high rise condos and didn't appeal to me. You could google 'Costa Blanca' and read more about that area.
