We are disembarking from a cruise in Barcelona and have 2 nights before our flight home. We have been to Barcelona several times and were thinking it might be nice to stay in a nearby beach area. We are looking at Castellfel and Sitges, but are open to other locations. We would like to be within 1 hour. from Barcelona airport. Thoughts? Recommendations?

Castellfel is nice, but more of a seaside suburb than 'beach town'. For beach town vibes, I'd say Sitges. For a town with a beach, maybe head to Tarragona?

My favorite beach near Barcelona is at the small seaside village of Garraf, which is just a short 20 min train ride south of Barcelona. You will find only locals at this small but quaint beach community. There are also many good chiringuitos to eat nearby and even a beach house designed by Antoni Gaudí. A very authentic place. For more upper scale food, try La Cupula, commanding views of the Mediterranean and a pretty good Fideuà, which is like a Paella but with short noodles instead of rice.
