Beach Destination in Andalucia

I had posted my itinerary on this site and got some good feedback...too much not enough time.. so I changed things and decided to pare things down...better to get quality instead of quantity...my question now is I would like to spend a couple of days at a beach...going in October and I know it's not beach weather....but I like to walk on beaches no matter the weather....I am trying to figure out what beach...I have looked at Neerja and Tarifa...However, Tarifa seems like a pain to get to without a vehicle. I can rent the car no problem but is it worth the drive or is Neerja better or is there somewhere else that would be better. So essentially, I am looking for a nice walking beach and a good town to explore nearby. Anyone with any suggestions are most welcome. And no I am not going to Morocco. Thanks

A few miles west of Tarifa is Punta Paloma. Haven’t been there since the early 1990s, but it was very popular with wind surfers. Unless things have changed, you’d need a car to get to it. When I first saw it around 1978, it was a deserted beach only used by fisherman fishing off the point. East of Tarifa is Algeciras (not much exciting there, but it has beaches too), and a little further away is La Linea de la Concepcion and Gibraltar. No idea how well public transportation serves that area since I always had a car.

Thank you both...I am finding that Malaga to Tarifa seems to be difficult to get to by bus...every date I put in seems to be an issue..maybe it's just the way I am doing it. I will check out Cadiz...though it seems to get some mixed review - the city itself...it is noted for it's beaches between Cadiz and Tarifa...I saw that Balonia looked nice as well...not sure how to get to these places as they might be off the beaten path and require a car. Thanks.

East of Malaga is Salobrena. It has a nice beach and castle. It may be easier to get to via public transportation than Tarifa.

If you're in Malaga, a destination like Nerja along the Costa del sol will certainly be more accessible without connecting train or buses.

Buses toward Cadiz will likely be run by different companies on different legs, perhaps connecting in Algeciras, and of course taking longer. Tarifa is in that same wind-surfer-friendly area, meaning very windy and a possibility of blowing sand.

Cadiz wasn't my favorite city but is does have some interesting sights and beautiful beaches - I thought the coast was much prettier than the Costa del Sol. There are frequent trains from Sevilla via Jerez.
