Beach day - Barceloneta or Stiges?

Hello!

I am traveling to Barcelona in 2 weeks and I love to swim in the sea. Last summer I spent time on the Almalfi coast and really enjoyed the blue water and being on a lounger with a nice drink and water I can swim in.

I am staying in El Born in Barcelona, and was planning on going to Barceloneta beach but people were recommending Costa Brava or Stiges. I can't rent a car, but could take a train for a day trip. If I am to take a train to Stiges, will there be cabs there to get to the beach? I have seen conflicting information.

To maximize the time for one beach day, should I stay in Barcelona or venture out for a really beautiful view? I will only be in Barcelona for three days.

With just three days I suggest Barcelona. From the beach the view of the Med is nearly the same as elsehwere along the coast. Plus, El Born is nearly on the beach and you won't be spending too much time getting to where you want to be.

We swam at the main beach in Barcelona last fall. It was really nice! America’s Cup was happening and it was fun to watch the boats sail by! Advice would be to go to the center of the beach or to the left when looking at the sea!

Sitges, the Costa Brava and Barceloneta all have great beaches. Sitges is about a 35-minute train ride from Barcelona and you can get there on the Rodalies commuter trains for about €6. You can simply walk
from the train station through Sitges charming Old Town and arrive at the beach in ten minutes.

Tossa de Mar on the Costs Brava has beautiful turquoise beaches below its castle. It can be reached by express bus in 75 minutes from Barcelona’s Nord bus station.
