Greetings - Wondering if anyone in the Forum has experience visiting the Basque Country in early January? My wife and I and one of our adult children have 3 or 4 nights to add onto our Spain itinerary, beginning on January 6 (Three Kings Day). We will have visited Barcelona, Madrid, Cordoba and Sevilla (from where we will depart on January 6), and had intended to finish in Lisbon. But based on some award flight availability, we have the opportunity to fly home from Bilbao. I know the weather will be an issue, but hotel prices are very reasonable and we are not beach people per se. Would be going for the food and local experience, as it were. Any thoughts appreciated!
It´s the end of our Christmas season, so it´ll be calmer and much less busy than on previous days. Jan 6 is a holiday all over Spain, so also expect a relaxed day, it´ll be busy for the "aperitivo" (around 1 to 3pm) before going for lunch. Weather may be nice, may be cold, may be warm, may be dry or rainy or snow...you never know, we have a very unreliable weather. Not beach weather, that´s for sure!
So the good thing is that you´ll have the places for yourselves, or almost!
Thank you for the reply!
