Hello, as part of an upcoming trip, we have a car for 5 days and have tentatively booked a room with parking in Arcos from which we would explore the region. Does Arcos make sense to use as a base or do you have alternate suggestions? thanks

Arcos de la Frontera works as would Ronda. I consider those towns to be the edges of the white hills towns area. All the popular towns are between them, but probably closer to Ronda. Consider staying at the Paradors in either of those places. Time of year and what exactly you plan on doing will affect your choice. I can’t imagine spending 5 days, or nights, in either of those towns or that area unless you plan on taking plenty of hikes. Arcos and Ronda each deserve a day at most. The majority of the white towns are best seen from a distance, are very small, and have little to offer. They can be seen in an hour or two
An alternative could be Jerez de la Frontera. It’s larger and only 30 minutes from Arcos.
