I'm planning a trip to Barcelona for the first time in December. My current plan includes a day trip to Vic for the Medieval market. Is it easy to get to Vic from Barcelona? Would it be worth it?
I’ve not been to the medieval market, but Vic is an easy one hour bus ride from Barcelona or 80 minutes on the Rodalies commuter train’s line 3.
As mentioned, very easy, commuter train in line R3 (red) northbound, departing from Plaça Catalunya or Sants. Vic is one hour from Barcelona. Be aware that Vic gets quite crowded during those four days, especially over the weekend. If you can, AVOID visiting during the weekend, you won't enjoy the fair, everything is packed.
The Mercat Medieval pays homage to the medieval past of this town. Vic was an important hub, a key centre of trade, and a crucial crossroads on one of the routes connecting the Pyrenees to Barcelona, the capital of Catalonia.
This fair is celebrated in December, transforming the town into a medieval experience with exhibitors, food stalls, and diverse displays. One can enjoy traditional Catalan foods, craft demonstrations, and street performances. The event offers a rich blend of trading, cultural activities, and entertainment, recreating an authentic medieval atmosphere for all ages. Attendance is free, no tickets either.

what do you mean "there"?
In any case, no, most citizens pay by credit card these days albeit cash is still also used.
