Hi, my family is planning a trip to Barcelona next summer and we would like to make a day trip to Stiges. I understand that there is a high speed line to Stiges. Do we need to book the tickets in advance? If so, where can I book them. Thank you!

No, it's just 40km from Barcelona, no high speed here. You need to take a commuting train, which doesn't require any reservation, just buy the ticket once at the station at any ATM. It costs around 5€ p.p. one way and there are trains every 15-20 minutes. The journey takes 35'. I would go to Passeig de Gràcia RENFE station, conveniently located very central and since there's only one track on each way, there's no headache to know which track it departs from. You just need to pay attention to the Information panels to see which one you need to take -as several lines pass through that station.
