Train is a little more than 6 hours. I always thought it was best to limit train rides to 5 hours or less.
They are comfortable trains, but it is a personal decision if you want to spend the 6 hours on a train or in and out of airports and on a flight. It often adds up to a similar amount of time. BTW, it may take an hour to get into Granada from the airport, depending on whether you take the handy local bus of a cab.
Yeah the flight isn’t really much cheaper when you factor in costs of taxi from airport to Granada.
We flew when we went from Barcelona to Granada, but we made a mistake. We chose the earliest flight because it was cheaper, but the airport bus from Catalunya wasn't running yet so those savings were used up on a taxi. If budget is a concern to you, consider that.
It was nice getting there so early in the day, since we only had two nights.
We chose to take the Vueling direct flight due to schedule. It just gives us more time in Granada.
I decided on the train, I didn't know the airport wasn't super convenient to Granada proper. Any "savings" in time and money woulda been eaten by the taxi or bus. Thanks everyone for their input.
Bring a book to read, the train journey is quite dull for 90% of it.
I've usually taken the plane when traveling down to Andalucia from Barcelona.
I will probably be dead tired and just rest for first half of it.
