I have been researching trains for months now, and making reservations for our September/October trip. Seems Euromed is the way to go. Is anyone familiar with this line? I can find trips straight to Alicante in September, but in October they all go by way of Madrid first. Am I just too early for those straight through reservations?
I'm pretty sure that would happen if you're too early and if you keep checking they'll appear eventually (Renfe has a somewhat random approach to posting timetables).
But when did you check? I just tried 23/10 for example and they were showing Euromed services.
I think I have it figured out. We have global pass from Eurail and the reservation process for those tickets is different. I can go to the Renfe site and buy those tickets now for just a bit more than the reservation fee I will pay if I wait and use the Eurail site. Even so, doing the math I came out saving money this trip by having the Eurail pass. Would cost more using Eurail if I was going through Italy. That is definitely a local ticket country!
