Barcelona stay before getting on cruise ship

I will have 24 hours in Barcelona before heading to the cruise ship terminal. Suggestions for neighborhoods within walking distance of tourist attractions and short cab ride to cruise ship terminal. Considering the Sheraton Diagonal in the 22@ district.

I have stayed at that hotel (it was a ways back) and while it was a perfectly adequate hotel,
it is a bit far from the main tourist attractions, without knowing what it is you might want to see.

Since you only have one day (and really, if your 24 hours is the day/evening you arrive and
some part of the next morning/early afternoon, you don't have as much time as you think),
I'd stay somewhere closer to the terminal but near the places you want to see, since you
don't have that much time to wander around. There are a multitude of hotels in Barcelona.

There is not really one hotel that is close to all attractions, as they are rather spread out. I stayed on Passeig de Gracia and walked to all the sights I wanted to see...my hotel (Majestic=exxpensive but fabulous) was diagonally across the street from Casa Battlo and I could walk to El Born, Sagrada Familia, and all restaurants I wanted to try........that's a good street to look on or near. Taxis are not very expensive..

We've stayed closer to the Gothic Quarter and radiated around to Born & Eixample for "regular" wandering, and Raval (walking tour) or Gracia (Sagrada Familia & Parc Guell). That Sheraton seems a bit off the "tourist" track, but there could be a ton of stuff near it I am not familiar with. From where we stayed, it was a few minute walk to both the Cathedral (starting point of many walking tours) and the Placa Catalunya and the Placa Reial (places to see and also starting points for other tours). Tons of restaurants and not too far from the Gaudi's Casa Batllo & the Illa de la Discòrdia plus Palau Guell or the Boqueria Market...and more. Vibrant at all hours of the day and evening.

Another advantage to being in the Gothic is its relative proximity to the cruise ports. A quick walk down the under-construction Ramblas puts you right at the shuttle spot for the 2euro ride to the various cruise terminals. It would be a cheaper cab ride - we saw tons of folks at our hotel checking out and jumping into waiting cabs headed to the cruise port.

I recommend staying in the Eixample neighborhood either close to Paseo de Gracia or close to Plaza Universitat. From there you have easy access to some of the best sites plus public transport.

Imstayed at the Ibis Sagrada Familia. Asyou might guess, it’s near the church and also 2 metro stops. Decent price

The metro is easy to navigate and super convenient. We choose a hotel next to a metro stop that is only 1-2 stops from one of the main nexus stops. That got us into a more chill neighborhood and still gave us access to all of the tourist sites.

But with only one night, I'd just splurge on a hotel that was on the west side of La Rambla or even better; close to the cruise port. Taxi transport to the cruise terminal is bleeping nightmare traffic jam so it pays to be on the "right" side of things.
