Barcelona Sleeping

We are trying to narrow down hotels in Barcelona for September. Many of Rick Steves' recs are booked or partial unavailable. The Postal el Jardi is available and significantly cheaper than everything else. Has anyone stayed there? He has it in his guide book but doesn't seem to like it. Any suggestions that won't break the bank

Have you read the reviews on Booking.com? Some highlights from people who stayed there in March 2024: no TV, no a/c, sewage smell in bathroom, small rooms, some complained that it was too hot....

What is your budget so we can give recommendations?

Frankly, places that Rick doesn’t like are places I wouldn’t like. We’ve stayed at a couple that he recommended with faint praise, and I’d never stay there again.

Is the Hotel Denit booked? We stayed there, and I’d definitely stay there again.

thank you- hotels really range in price and so did his recs! one was suppose to be $$ and hotel Nouvel is the same price!! We don't need fancy or the Four Seasons of Spain since we will only sleep there, however, do not want a dump! All recommendations would be great!

Definitely check the Hotel Denit. Great location, price was good when we stayed there, and so was the included breakfast.

What are the recommended hotels Rick recommends for Barcelona? are they listed somwhere in the guidebook? i bought the Best of Spain and Italy guidebooks as we are travelling to both countries next year. Hotel Denit is 875 a night for the days im there, so I wont be staying there.

We stayed at the BacHome Gallery B and B last year in early October. It was a decent spot.

May want to check out AirBnBs--we stayed in quite a few during our Spain trip last month--most of them were very nice and we would stay there again.

Granted there usually aren't any restaurants in the building, but the apartments/units are more spacious than many hotels, some have kitchens and washing machines (dryers in Spain not so much). Had I realized that it was very easy to do laundry during our trip, I could have brought only 1/3 of the clothes.

We stayed here a couple of years ago:

Just across the square from the cathedral and adjacent to the Gothic Quarter.
Not a high-end hotel, but very nice and the location was great. Short walk to Jaume metro station.
Overall, hotel prices in Barcelona seem higher than previous years.

How about the chic&basic Reding hotel? It was called the Hotel Reding Croma when I stayed there in the spring of 2023. It was a clean and modernized hotel, very close to Placa de Catalunya. So, it's close to La Rambla, 2 metro stations, Rambla de Catalunya and the Hop On Hop Off first stop. An Aldi is right around the corner. Safe neighborhood, a 3 star rating, 24 hour front desk and the price was reasonable.

We have stayed in a couple of the H10 hotels in Barcelona and thought they were really good.

We have also stayed in the Suites Center apartments in Gracia. They are associated with Hotel Casa Fuster so you can use the hotel's pool and gym and even get room service.

H10 hotels are pretty good.

Also AirBnBs will soon be illegal in Barcelona so I wouldn't go that route.
