The W Hotel, https://www.marriott.com/en-us/hotels/bcnwh-w-barcelona/overview/?scid=45f93f1b-bd77-45c9-8dab-83b6a417f6fe&y_source=1_Mjc4MjIxOC00ODMtbG9jYXRpb24ud2Vic2l0ZQ%3D%3D. I was there in May 2019. It is crowded, loud and popular. So if you want a table or seat near the windows, get there early. You can wander around and get photos if you don't have a seat near the windows. I don't know if you can book. We just walked in and asked someone if we could share their table.

The rooftop of the old Plaza de toros de las Arenas, a former bullfight arena, has many hip and trendy bars at the top with 360 views overlooking Montjuïc and the magic fountain. No need to book ahead.

Here are some ideas: https://www.timeout.com/barcelona/things-to-do/barcelona-rooftop-bars-drinks-with-a-view

Still... don't romanticize it too much... they tend to be packed to the rim (at certain hours), service is so so in most, and they're expensive. Furthermore, Barcelona's location -with the Collserola Ridge at her "back"- doesn't really make it for "beautiful sunsets". Sorry to queer your pitch.

A less packed alternative: a drink on a boat navigating by the coastline overlooking the city skyline while listening to live smooth jazz? Just sayin'... Check barcelona-orsom.com or sea-barcelona.com among others.

NOTE: this is not to be confused with the "party cruises", a.k.a "booze boats", this activity is not legal in Barcelona (despite there being still companies offering them every summer).

Thanks so much Enric, love getting facts that give the whole picture, funny I had been looking at one of those sunset sails or cruises with music think that would be lovely, did one in Mexico, as you said not “booze cruise” just nice civilized music and sail with just a few people, see a few are offered out of Barcelona will try one, thanks again

We tried to get into the Hotel Colon rooftop bar but even getting there late afternoon the line was crazy long. We didn’t want to spend our free time in a queue so went elsewhere. If you’re wanting to go to one of the more popular rooftop bars I’d try to get there early, or have a reservation if they take them.

Ohla Barcelona on Via Laietana hotel had a great rooftop bar. You may need a reservation. We were staying there and had access to the bar. We noticed a line in the front of the hotel. Apparently very popular.
