Barcelona Palau de la Música Catalana – Need Advice for Concert Seating

I am going to book seats for the Barcelona Guitar Trio and Dance in June. Many seats are already reserved. On the floor area there are seats open in the first, second, third and eighth row. I would like to be close to see the performers. But it looks like the stage is elevated, so I fear that the front seats are being avoided for a reason. Has anyone attended this particular performance that can speak to the stage elevation and the seating? Would we be looking up if we sat too close? Would our view be blocked by others if we sat a little farther back? Thank you!

8th row if toward the center. This is a marvelous venue for music. I’ve been a number of times, and never disappointed. Arrive early so you can explore the anterooms, and enjoy the Palau as a guest rather than a tourist.

Only seats remaining in 8th row are seven and eight from center. Do you think that's a problem? Was also wondering about the side box seats. They are all available for the most part.

The Palau was designed to have superb acoustics regardless of the seat you sit on. So much so that there are a handful of seats located, literally, behind the columns, with no direct view to the centre stage, yet the acoustics is so good that people are prepared to pay for those seats (they're obviously cheaper than other seats!).

Thank you Enric! As always, you have a great insight to all that is Barcelona! I have certainly read the acoustics are wonderful. So no seat will be bad from that perspective. As for viewing, would you prefer 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 8th row or right of stage box seats?

I personally never liked to be too close to the stage in this or any other hall... I prefer having a "global perspective" of everything that goes on at the stage. In fact, at Palau I prefer the seats on the first floor. But this is me.

Have a look:

Thanks Enric. The 360 perspective is fabulous. I don't think the second link is correct though.

I’ve only been there on a tour. But I would sit in the front of the balcony, in order to see more of the architecture while listening. Unless you study the guitar yourself ...

We attended a concert there last year and sat on the lower level in the elevated seats to the side. We were midway in the theater and in the first row seat in the section. The view was very good and no one was in front of me. Start your evening with tapas at Tosca Palau right across from the entrance to the Palau. Food was so good!

Thank you! I wound up purchasing two seats, front row of the lower level, 2nd box from the stage. It's on the left side if you are facing the stage and I think the view will be very good. Thanks to all and we will check out Tosca Palau!

If you are interested in guitar-playing, take binoculars for close-up views of the playing and the facial expressions.
