Our family of 5 (3 teenagers) are traveling to Spain for 14 days in June. We fly into and out of Madrid. Should we fly to Barcelona on day of arrival and have 2 nights there? The fly to Granada. Seems like that could be a lot and tiring. Or stay in Madrid, relax and head to Toledo for 1 night. Then train to Granada. Rest of trip:
2 nights - Granada
2-3 nights - Beach Almunecar
1-2 nights - Ronda
3 nights - Sevilla
3 nights - Madrid (I lived in Madrid during college and want to make sure to have plenty of time in Madrid). So if we go to Barcelona, won't have time for Toledo. Thank you!
That's too much flying going through the stress of airport level security in hot weather.
Take the train no doubt.
Barcelona is one of my favorite cities in the world. However, it demands more time than the 2 nights you can give it, especially since you'li likely be jet-lagged on the first day. Go to Toledo. Save Barcelona for another trip.
I prefer Barcelona to Toledo but with your timeframe and schedule Toledo makes more sense. With jet lag downtime and flight/train time you won't have much time in your first destination. Toledo is easily see in one day with a night, but to get the feel of Barcelona you need a minimum of several nights.
