We will be in Barcelona on Labor Day, May 1, or May Day. I've read that there are celebrations on this day and that some venues may be closed. Has anyone ever experienced this? Thanks.

You can check the websites of the attractions you plan to visit to see whether they list May 1 as a holiday. A number of the most popular sights in Barcelona are privately owned rather than government run. They may be less likely to close.
