Is it possible that many hotels are sold out more than one year in advance?
I have tried booking a hotel using RS recommendations for mid price hotels.
A lot of the hotels are either sold out or very expensive.
I am looking in the Town Center near a Metro station.
I am alright away from the Town Center as long as I can get to the Center by rail.

You're looking too early. Hotels do not usually open up bookings until one year, or sometimes less, in advance. If you are super-excited about one particular place, you could call them (during Spanish business hours, keeping in mind the late lunch period), but that may very well not produce results. Most hotels won't have determined their rates for fall 2020 yet.
It's the same way in the US.
Definitely too early - try again in November or December.
Thank you for your reply. I was able to book a tour for next year as tour companies are now posting their tours for 2020. So I thought I could also book rooms. You seasoned travelers are so helpful : )
Also, flights often are not bookable more than 11 months in advance.
