Barcelona Neighborhoods - Hotels/BnBs?

My wife and I are spending 4 nights in Barcelona in mid July. We are trying to decide a nice neighborhood to stay in. We're interested in taking nice walks to view the architecture, visiting the beach, and art museums. We are trying to manage our budget and spend around $100 per night or less. Any suggestions for neighborhood? Any thoughts for a hotel/BnB vs Airbnb? Any tips are appreciated!

$100 or less in July it's going to be a tad complicated. While the city is full of visitors (tourists, business, events, etc) all year long, Jun to Sep are especially full and hotel/apt occupancy (despite having over 500 hotels in the city!) is very high -hence prices also skyrocket. I am not saying you "won't find" but it's going to be difficult, especially in central locations. Moreover, I would imagine you're referring to July 2019.... because if you're referring to next month, well, good luck! :)

As per neighbourhoods, location is not critical in this city because there's a very good and convenient transportation network (metro, bus, train, tramway... and taxis) which communicate every corner of the city in a breeze. You're never more than 30'-40' or so from one end to the other. Still, this is the recommendation I tend to offer to tourists: http://bit.ly/BCNwhicharea

Enjoy!
