I'm sure Enric will be able to give you some helpful tips, but speaking as a fellow tourist who used the Barcelona Metro several times, I don't think you'll have any difficulty. There can be some fairly long walks through the underground corridors (not necessarily on the trip you're planning), but the signage seemed very good to me. One thing I'd want to have is a diagram of the metro system. There's probably one in your guidebook. If not, Google for one and print it out. Then, before each trip, look at the map and determine the last station of the line you want, in the direction you're heading. Some signs list all the stations; others just show the termination point. With your little Metro map at hand, you'll be prepared either way.

There's a small city tourist information booth inside Sants. I don't know how to describe its location other than to say that it's in the central part of the building, not along one of the outer walls. You can get a map of the city there and some other materials; the Plaça de Catalunya tourist office (underground) has a lot more brochures.

I bought my T-10 ticket for the Metro at the tobacco shop in Sants across the concourse from the tourist information booth and slightly to the left.

Just want to line things up so I don't look like an idiot walking around. So main station BCN SANTS, to the L3 line to Licue metro stop is where we get off...from what I just read on line, the L3 comes right to the main hub?

That's the right line. Be sure you follow the signs to Trinitat Nova (not Zona Universitaria). I think there must surely be an entrance to the Metro from inside Sants Station.

If you're staying near Liceu I think you'll find the location very convenient.

We were in Barcelona last week. Yes, you can access the metro from Sants station. Our hotel was close to the Liceu metro stop, also. so we used the L3 line. You can buy the tickets downstairs from a machine by the metro line. There was a row of machines upstairs, but I am not sure what tickets you could buy there. We bought the card of 10 rides for both of us to use, which is more economical than buying single tickets.
