Barcelona lodging, big family

Hello,
I'm looking for lodging for our big family in Barcelona. Given only 1 night & the anti-rental sentiments right now, I'm stumped finding a good option. We'd planned on a few days in Barcelona (2 weeks in Spain) before sailing out of Barcelona home, but given the recent protests, structured our time in rural areas instead, sooo.....
Here's the details:

1 night - Oct. 30
Arriving via train, leaving on 31st from cruise terminal
8 people: 4 adults, 4 kids (3,5,13,15)
Ideally, <$400 total, won't have much time this stop to explore so proximity not a major factor.
Can split into multiple hotel rooms, hostel, pension, apt, etc. Budget, then convenience ar biggest factors. Thank you for any suggestions!!!

Look for something called a Hostal (not hostel). In Spain Hostals are their own category of lodging, similar to a guest house. They are totally different than the youth hostels. They offer the most bang for your buck I think, and are typically cheaper than normal hotels. They're probably around the category of a 2 to 3 star hotel.
