We are leaving for Barcelona tomorrow Oct 5 and worried about the airport strike. I have not received any notice from our airline Aer Lingus of any cancellation. Anyone there knows what’s happening? Thank you.
It also depends on what strike you are talking about. There was a Spain wide airport strike notified some weeks ago, but negotiations were successful and the country wide strikes were called off.
If you are concerned about a spill over from today's Catalonia (which included Barcelona) general strike, we have no idea what will happen in 2 days. There are some notifications that metros, trains and buses can experience slow downs until Oct 13th. Word on the street today is that stores and restaurants are closed, airport shuttle is reduced to 50% service or less. Renfe trains are reduced, metro and bus reduced to commute times only. Not running at all between 9:30 am - 5:30 pm.
I think as far as Barcelona goes, one wants to identify actions as 'Spain' or Barcelona/Catalonia. It is too confusing otherwise to know which information to provide.
I recommend finding various local sources for your information while in Barcelona. Mossos is the local police and they have a twitter feed. Relevant tourist posts are in english otherwise translate from Catalan or Spanish. They post in those 2 languages as well.
