I will be in Barcelona the last week in October. Except for Sagrada Familia, are the lines for the various sites so long at this time of year that advanced tickets are necessary? I am wondering about such places as the Picasso Museum, Casa Mila, Casa Batllo, Casa Vicens.
I was there in April and I equate April and October when I travel as mid-shoulder season...and YES, there were definitely lines at Casa Batllo, Casa Mila and the Picassso Museum. Save yourself a lot of time standing around in line and pre-book these sites.
My first visit was February last year and there were lines for Casa Mila and Casa Battllo for sure. Add the not-to-be-missed Palace of Catalan Music English tour to your list and book in advance for that too.
Yes. The most popular places always require pre-booking despite the fact that in some of them sometimes (very, very rare!) you can just walk in -or simply wait a few minutes. I don't advise risking it though, after all, one's time on holidays is always precious (and expensive), right?
Casa Vicens is not yet open to the public. I speak from memory but I seem to recall it won't be open until 2017.
Thanks for the info. I had hoped that by late October the lines would not be long. For those who have been there in late October, are the lines long for Fundacio Joan Miro and for MNAC? I keep trying to keep some spontaneity in my planning but these timed advance tickets mess that up.
I personally wouldn't worry too much about MNAC and Fund.Miró in late Oct, especially if you visit on a week day.
Thanks for the advice, Enric. We will probably go to MontJuic on a Wed. So, that looks good. I will just focus then on getting timed advance tickets to Casa Mila, Casa LLeo Morera and the Picasso Museum. We are going to arrange for a tour of Sagrada Familia with barcelone.de. We will be in Barcelona for a week so will then have a lot of opportunity for enjoying the city at our leisure. Really looking forward to it.
