Barcelona Hotel recommendations please

My husband and I will fly to Barcelona for our first trip to Spain.
I would like to book a hotel for us that is:
1. A good location, so we can easily walk around to explore.
2. Not noisy.
3. Comfortable and safe.

We don't know anything about Barcelona yet, so I am just starting to prepare.
Any suggestions would be great!
Thank you!

We liked the Hotel Barcelona Continental. I think it fits your criteria. A minute walk from Placa Catalunya on La Rambla. We had a balcony room, no noise issues at all. Quirky, but nice folks, enjoyed the amenities (wine, coffee snacks 24hr) and location. The clerk saw me walking out one day with my RS book in hand, and called me over, pointed to the book, and extended a 10% discount. So I'm partial.

We stayed at the Catalonia Portal de L'Angel on our RS Best of Spain tour last summer. Lovely hotel, great breakfast, well situated. Has a small pool for cooling off in the afternoon. Just a few blocks from Ramblas, but far enough away to avoid the noise.

Another good hotel you might consider is the Hotel Granvia which is only about a five minute walk from Placa Catalunya, has large clean rooms, very good customer service from the front desk staff, and an excellent breakfast buffet.

Thanks for the suggestions!
I just booked!
We are flying into Barcelona, spending a few nights at Catalonia Portal de l'Angel.
Then we have some days outside of Barcelona.
When we return to Barcelona, we will stay for a few nights at Hotel Continental!
I booked a room with a little balcony directly on La Ramba.

Looking forward to this trip!
