We are traveling to Barcelona for four nights in May 2024 and looking for hotel/neighborhood recommendations. We’ve only started planning and we’re considering the Old City or Eixample. We will be arriving by train and using public transportation to get around. We prefer to have breakfast and bar available at the property or nearby. We will be flying home from the Barcelona airport. Thanks ahead for your recommendations!
We stayed on the edge of the gothic quarter here https://www.hduquesadecardona.com/en/
The location was perfect for walking everywhere, including the waterfront. The hotel has breakfast and a fantastic rooftop bar with great views. Just a few doors down is a place called Restaurant Informal, which had the best jamon that we had anywhere in Spain.
Our family enjoyed Hotel Lleo this past July. Friendly staff, clean, nice sized rooms. Not fancy but well cared for hotel. We walked everywhere…so a good location. Reasonable price. Best thing their breakfast!
We stayed in the Hotel Colon in April 2018. Breakfast was not included in our rate but there's a cafe down the street. It was across the square from the Cathedral and within walking distance of the Maritime Museum.
We just returned from Barcelona, we stayed at H10 Urquinaona. Nice spacious room with views to the city and a balcony. Not noisy at all, the balcony has two sets of doors. Breakfast was included consisting of a nice spread! Metro station is across the street. We walked everywhere and used the metro in certain instances. The property has a nice quiet patio and a rooftop bar. The only thing I couldn't get use to was that the sink was just outside the bathroom. Overall, it's a nice place to stay.
