Barcelona hotel before cruise departure

Looking for suggestions on a mid-price Barcelona hotel to spend 1 night prior to a cruise departure. Is it best to stay closer to the port or more central to the sights? We'll have a day to spend and want to see as much as we can before leaving. Thanks,

I stayed at Hotel Continental Barcelona which was recommended to me by forum. I was happy with hotel and would stay there again.

However I stayed about three or four nights (can no longer remember)

It was close enough for me to walk to where I caught the Cruise Bus that took me to the cruise port. And it was in the middle of things. I do not know how much you will be able to see in a day. I heard that there is a good hoho bus and I regret not taking it.

Barcelona is a great city. The cruise was very good.

One of the best-located neighborhoods to stay in Barcelona is L’Eixample where Gaudi’s architectural masterpieces are located. BacHome Gallery B&B ( recommended by Rick Steves) is located here, and it’s less than a 5-mile, 20-minute taxi ride to the cruise port.

Transportation in Barcelona is excellent: inexpensive, safe, clean and efficient. You can stay anywhere that's convenient for you, and easily go to the Moll Adossat in Port Vell (Old Port) where the cruise terminals are located -important, this is the one you want, as there are several ports and marinas in Barcelona, miles from each other. Btw, Catalan words roughly pronounced "mohl ah-doo-saht"

We enjoyed Hotel Midmost which is 5 minutes walk to Las Ramblas and Plaza Catalunya. You can easily walk to gothic quarter, port area (not sure on cruise ship departure location, I assume to far with suitcases). The hotel is a mid size hotel with friendly helpful staff and rooftop bar/sitting area. The breakfast may have been called “continental” but it was extensive. I’d stay here again.
