Barcelona Hotel

Taking grand daughter end of July. Any hotel recommendations? Ideal to be in good location near museums and Las Ramblas etc. Thank you.

Barcelona does book up. You need to choose from the hotels that are available for your dates, not the ones (however wonderful) enjoyed by other travelers.

Try a website like booking.com and see what you can find. A place not terribly far from Pl. Catalunya will be relatively convenient, but plenty of folks have been satisfied to be a little farther out as long as there was a Metro station nearby. Look at website photos and read reviews. When you have one or more possibilities, you can check here to see whether anyone on the forum has stayed at your potential hotels.

A couple of years ago we were in Barcelona. We stayed here H10 montcada. It was in a great location. we walked almost everywhere. It had a wonderful breakfast and was a great hotel.

A number of years ago we stayed at Hotel Balmes (not Olivia Balmes). We liked the location since it was close to the Sagrada Familia, casa Batlo and casa Mila but it may not be as close to the Ramblas as you're prefer. A metro stop is close by and the Ramblas was about a leisurely 15 minutes walk.

Thank you! The H10Montcada dates not work. Hotel Balmes 4* I think OK ...any others?
Thank you!

What type hotel are you looking for? Of course, one that is AVAILABLE...smile:)

But, are you looking for something modest, modern, historic, a bit of a splurge, large hotel, small hotel?

We stayed in two different lovely hotels in Barcelona a few years ago, but I hesitate to recommend them blindly without knowing if they might be what you are looking for.

I suggest looking on booking.com. Just a couple of weeks out a lot of places will be booked up (especially in July). I had good results at Hotel Lloret at the top of the Ramblas twice. My most recent experience there was six years ago though. It does get 4/5 on Tripadvisor still though.

Ideally a hotel where we can walk to many places. A boutique if possible. So far those listed Hotel Ramblas looks good however too late for H10 Montcada which was perfect! We live CA so other than to see it not important to be near the beach.

Hotel Neri is a lovely boutique hotel that is historic, but beautifully updated. It's in the older, historic section of Barcelona but close to lots of attractions.

The Alma Barcelona is a more modern, but still small enough to be personal hotel that is closer to the Gaudi sites and La Sagrada Familia.

We stayed two nights at Hotel Neri, then transferred to The Alma. Both allowed us to be within easy walking distance of sites in different parts of the city.. We didn't originally plan to divide our time between two hotels, but we wound up flying in earlier than expected to avoid a then-upcoming ice storm (which we successfully did) in the US...remember when the jet slid off the runway in NY?....we would have been traveling thru that airport that day.

But, as it turned out, adding a couple of night the Neri on the front end was a delightful experience, and arriving early allowed us to see more of Barcelona before heading to Granada.

Thank you!! In searching tours I've realized being within walking not as important. I'm the grand mother so better to have skip the line tickets worth the price! By chance any favorites? I'm familiar with viator but often they get numbers and just too many. Perhaps a more local tour group?
