Barcelona Gran Teatre del Liceu Tickets & cc approval

Living in the U.S. and trying to get opera tickets. After selecting performance and seats, the web site transfers me to a payment site to take the credit card information (Comercia Global Payments). The card is approved for overseas purchases, but Comercia comes back with the card NOT REGISTERED. Tried contacting Comercia, but their web site is geared to businesses not the individual buyer.

Questions -
Is this the best or only way to get tickets?
If yes, how do I get the card REGISTERED?

Thanks.

They may only take cards that have been registered in the Verified by Visa or MasterCard SecureCode programs, which most people don't have and not all banks offer. Does the web site display those symbols? Or, if the site accepts PayPal, then that is easier to get approved.

Thanks Laura -
Yes - the MasterCard was registered with a Secure Code and re-registered with a MasterCard representative. The Comercia site continues to act as if the card is NOT registered.

Regarding PayPal. They show something called IUPAY, not PayPal.

I'll continue to work with MasterCard to get this cleared up - IF POSSIBLE.
Thanks again.

David, I feel your pain.

Are you sure that you don't have to register for an account at Comercia? I had to do something similar for the Rome Opera. The charge went through a vendor, and I had to set up an account with that vendor (ID, password, etc.) before I could proceed.

As for other ticket sources, I've never been to Barcelona (sigh), but for Paris I once got Opera Comique tickets from FNAC, which is a big ticket vendor that also has offices in Spain. Also check out Corte Ingles, a Spanish department store with its own ticket bureau. These two are completely legit vendors.

Also, ticketmaster.es might be a source for Liceu tickets.

Good luck!
