Barcelona - getting from airport to downtown

We will be flying United into Barcelona from the US on June 5th. We will be staying at an Airbnb between the metro stops Jaume I and Barceloneta.
We are tying to decide if we should take the bus or train into town. If I remember, the closest bus stop in town is at Placa de Catalunya. From there we could either walk to our Airbnb or get on the metro and get off at Jaume I.
Or should we take the RENFE train. But, it looks like they don't stop anywhere close to our Airbnb.

Isn't there a metro at the airport that we could just jump on and go to Jaume I stop? It does look like we would have to change trains a few times, so that may take a lot longer.

Any suggestions?

Take the bus. It’s easy quick and cheap and well organized.

... take a taxi. After a long haul, with suitcases and the lot you don't probably want to be changing means of transportation here and there pushing your luggage in long corridors or under a scorching sun, right? A taxi will cost you in all around 35-40€ (up to four pax) and will leave you in front of the apt. Whatever other solution to your address involves long walks (>20'). Still, if interested, say so and I'll detail which options do you have available.

PS: Btw, don't take me wrong, you're gonna walk the stretch from Pl Catalunya to your apt a dozen times when in the city... but without pushing your luggage!!!

Well, coming from Phoenix, the scorching sun probably wouldn't bother you, LOL! :))

The airport bus works really, really well. Unless the walk is really far, I suggest that you take that.

Ah yes, regarding the advice from others so far... there are TWO buses from the airport to the city: the AEROBUS and bus #46.... you want to look for the first one! Bus #46 arrives as far as Plaça Espanya only -very, very far from your area.

There are 4 of us, so a taxi might be a good idea. I agree the walk from Placa de Catalunya will be long with backbacks. I don't mind walking all over the city, but not necessarily with our backpacks.

Yes, coming from Phoenix in June, Barcelona won't be hot for us.

So, I think we will either take a taxi or take the bus that drops us off at Placa de Catalunya and walk to our apartment.

Thanks.

No more Uber in Barcelona as of Feb 2019. So yes, with four people a taxi seems like the best deal even though it will still cost more than four bus tickets.

Definitely take a taxi, especially since you have 4 people. That's what we did last summer and it was super easy. Almost every time, taking a taxi with 4 people was cheaper than using public transportation. The one exception was buying the T10 subway card, which is 10 tickets for 10 euros - but - for where we stayed, the subway didn't go to a lot of places we wanted to go easily. Barcelona taxis are amazing and plentiful; way better than Uber IMHO. One recommendation is to bring some pre-printed slips of paper with you of addresses you want to go to if you are worried about language barrier. You can just hand them to the driver. Most of our Barcelona cabbies spoke English but we had one who didn't, and it was just fine, as we were going to Sagrada Familia so he obviously understood where we wanted to go on that one!

Taxis are reasonable and plentiful in Barcelona. I would take one - gets you right to the door and no hassle with luggage.
