Barcelona Football Match Tickets in August

Hi, first time here.

I'm taking my 15-year-old son on a trip to Barcelona and Paris. School starts for him on August 23rd, so we need to be in the US that week.
I'm trying to figure out when I should buy two tickets to a FC Barcelona football match. We will either fly to Barcelona and fly out of Paris, or fly to Paris and fly out of Barcelona. We are flexible. We plan on a 20-day trip.

Based on last year's schedule, the only home game in August was on the 19th, so I think we are looking at a very close call here if we have to be back by the 22nd, especially since I may not be able to buy tickets until July.

Any ideas as to how I should coordinate this? I am going to be buying the plane tickets soon and I'm hoping to do this the right way.

My big recommendation for you is to look out for the Joan Gamper Cup in mid August, which is the traditional FC Barcelona pre-season friendly. The Joan Gamper Cup is the only game of the year when all seats at the Camp Nou are available to the general public, at low prices too, so it's fairly easy to get in. Last year's cup was on August 15.

The FC Barcelona fixtures schedule itself is announced around the end of July, with La Liga starting in late August. If it's not a game against a big team you don't need to buy tickets months in advance, usually one can find pretty good tickets a week or two before. There's also no problem with getting two seats together for these types of smaller profile matches.

Carlos, thank you so much (mil gracias!) for the info. This is EXACTLY what I was hoping for. I was sure at some point in the past I'd seen something like that, but couldn't remember. I have just told my son and he is so excited! This makes things so much easier to coordinate. Thanks again!

For the Joan Gamper cup, every year they bring in an exotic foreign team to play against Barça. Last year was Boca Juniors, from Argentina. The last time I went was back in 2016 and they played against Sampdoria from Genoa. You and your son are going to have a blast!
