Barcelona, Finestrat, Seville Trip

I am attending a wedding in Finestrat (Alicante) in September. My plan is to fly into Barcelona, stay there approx. 9 days, take the train (or should I fly?) into Alicante two days before the wedding. I'll attend the wedding and a post-wedding bbq the next day and then head to Seville (by train? by bus? by airplane?) and spend 7 days there. Any suggestions on which method of transportation is the best? Is 7 days too long to spend in Seville? Is 9 days enough in Barcelona (including time to get over jet lag...flying in from San Francisco)? Thanks.

Fly Barcelona to Alicante - there are multiple flights per day.

Alicante to Sevilla is less simple - I can't see direct flights.
Given the ample time you have, perhaps AVE train to Madrid for 3 nights, then AVE to Sevilla for 4 nights.
Most flight or train journeys will be directing you via Madrid regardless.

9 days is time enough to get to know Barcelona (and Catalunya) quite well.
I would look at taking 2 nights out for an excursion to Girona, Figueres and Cadaques
A long day trip to Tarragona, and shorter ones to Montserrat and Sitges.
That will leave you 3 or 4 days in the city itself - perfect !!
Enric (el Fabuloso) will offer more detail I am certain.

7 days is a long time to spend in Seville. The only easy day trips by train are to Jerez (just over an hour) and Cordoba (less than an hour). Would you consider splitting the time between Seville and another location? You could day-trip to Seville from Cordoba, use 3 days to see Seville, then 3 days in Jerez with day trips by bus to Arcos and by train to Cadiz.
