My wife and I will be departing from Barcelona on a cruise ship in late April. I'm a believer in TripAdvisor for hotel searches. Their recommendations are numerous and redundant to a degree. Anyone have a favorite in the $120- $150/ night range in close proximity to the cruise port, and that's also handy to a Metro stop? We will have two days to tour before embarking. I was last in Barcelona in the mid-60's on a haze gray USN ship...suspect Olympics changed most of what I recall from waterfront !
Nah, the place has not changed at all.
😄
Barcelona is easy to get around and the cruise dock is only 20 minutes from downtown. The subway system is fantastic and enables efficient transport throughout the area. while you review recommendations I encourage you to consider how important is staying in a place offering a quieter environment.
We prefer to rent apts, but have enjoyed staying in the Eixample district for hotels.
I am hoping a poster named Wonderful finds your request as he is a great resource for Barcelona and lives in Spain.
I stayed in the Hotel Constanza last year (http://www.hotelconstanza.com/) and would recommend it. It's located just to the north of the old city and a couple of blocks east of Placa de Catalunya at the top of La Rambla. It may be a bit higher than your desired price. I think double rooms ranged from about 120 to 160 Euro. There are two bus stops nearby, but you may want to take a cab to the cruise port since they can drive right to your ship's embarkcation location.
Have fun!
The cruise pier is long and there might be 5 ships lined up. Do take a cab to your ship as it is not only far from shore, the traffic there zooms. The ship we had was at the very last pier and the taxi driver was ready to turn around, he thought we had the wrong day of departure. No nearby hotel recs as we stayed away from city center in Les Corts.
