Barcelona closures during Easter time

I am trying to lock in a schedule for Barcelona over Easter, 2018. Unfortunately, 2 of our 3.5 days will be during a time when many main attractions and shops are closed for the holiday. I am having trouble confirming whether Sagrada Família, Casa Milà and Casa Batlo will be open to go INSIDE on Easter Sunday or the day after, Monday and if so, what are the hours for each on both days. I have been on the website but still remain unsure. Also, I'm not hearing rave reviews about the Picasso museum so I was wondering if this was a good use of time and money although I understand it would not take long to go through?

The problem with the Picasso Museum, in my recent experience (August 2016), was the incredible crowding there--as bad as the worst photos I've seen of the Vatican Museums. I think the collection is very interesting if you care about early Picasso. I discourage folks from going if they aren't seriously interested because of the sardine-can experience. The crowding makes for a longer visit than one would expect unless, of course, the crowding sends you running for the exit. There are many art museums in Barcelona; only the Picasso suffers from severe overcrowding, so there are good alternatives, including the Miro and the MNAC.

Opening-time information copied from the official websites you mentioned:

Casa Batllo: "Open 365 days, 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Duration of one hour approx." [I'd estimate 90 minutes at least, with the audioguide; this site is very heavily visited, which can slow you down.]

Casa Mila: "Everyday, from 9.00am (Last admission 6.00pm)." [There are also nighttime visits, from 7 PM.]

La Sagrada Familia: "April to September, 9 am to 8 pm." [Four dates around Christmas/New Year's are listed separately and have more limited hours. No specific mention of Easter.]

I don't know what sights in Barcelona will actually be closed on Easter and Easter Monday. If a number of significant ones are closed, that may send more visitors to the four sights discussed above. However, I am doubtful that the local public-safety provisions would permit admission of more people to Casa Batllo and the Picasso Museum than I saw during my visit.

We really enjoyed the Picasso Museum as it is set ip to display his paintings chronologically. You see his development from an incredibly talented child up to an adult. The changes in his style are amazing.

Thank you for the information and input on the museums.

During your visit did you utilize a Barcelona Card or Barcelona Pass? If so, did you find it worthwhile? There are a few attractions that I would like to pre-purchase tickets online before we leave and I was also wondering if the pass can only be used for purchasing tickets in person and not over for
internet purchase?

My visit to Barcelona was a long one, so I just bought tickets as I went. I don't have any idea how the Barcelona Pass/Card works.

Nah!, Susan, most of the time is not worth. It all boils down of course to what you want to visit and how many sites do you intend to visit in the timeframe of the card's validity... but most of the time, the cost of this card is hardly offset by the typical visitor. Ann's (acraven) way is the way to go in most circumstances.

Btw, for Susan and others thinking in purchasing this or other cards, this is a post I made some time ago comparing the different types of cards available. I hope it's helpful: https://www.tripadvisor.com/ShowTopic-g187497-i44-k10762300-Barcelona_Pass-Barcelona_Catalonia.html#85505467

Thanks for the valuable feedback on the cards. Upon closer look, it just doesn't pencil out to be financially advantageous for me. A few of the "free things" listed didn't get rave reviews so I wouldn't want to spend my valauble time there just because I want the card to pay for itself!

That's the thing: How much of that stuff would have made your priority list if it hadn't been covered by the card?

Another issue I've had elsewhere is that if you have a sight covered by the card right next to a non-covered (or free) sight, it's logical to see the two back-to-back, from a time-management perspective. If maximizing the card means zipping back and forth across the city, skipping over the free/non-covered sites to go to sights covered by the card while the card is valid, you are wasting time. And time is often more valuable on a vacation than a few euros.
