Barcelona/Catalonia drought affect on tourist?

I am aware of the serious decade long drought situation in this area and it is surprising that there seems to be little effect on tourism mentioned. I know there are restrictions on fountains and pools, and possibly landscaping. Is there anything else a tourist is going to encounter in the area due to the drought? I have read that the Magic fountain is closed. That makes sense, but it is very sad. Anything else we shoud be aware of?

Hi, NO, you shouldn't be affected at all.
However, I would politely ask that you minimize your use of water while staying in Barcelona. A recent survey showed that while local residents are being asked to limit their water consumption to 200 litres per day (current use is around 240 litres a day) visitors using hotels are cureently using, on average, 530 litres of water per person per day.
Enjoy your stay.

Yes, I had read that. I suspect it is a bit of a double edge sword with tourism. A lot of things may depend on it but the tourist population is also a consumer. We always try to leave a light footprint and respect local issues...
