Barcelona - birthday restaurant

We will be in Barcelona during my twin nephew's 18th birthday. Any recommendations on a moderately priced restaurant to celebrate the occasion?

The Grill Room has very good food and moderate prices. Just off La Rambla on Carrer dels Escudellers, 8, 08002 Barcelona. It's part of a group of restaurants. grupandilana.com

I love this Basque Steak House in Barcelona:

Sagardi BCN Gotic Restaurant
62 Carrer de I’Argenteria

The food is excellent and the prices were reasonable, it’s in the gothic quarter and easy to find. Order the streak it’s very good and the grilled peppers are great.

... as always, "moderately priced" means a lot of things to different people :)

Anyway, is your nephew the meat-type? If so, for a "different" venue I would suggest a great restaurant in the posh area of the city, located in a superb house: Asador de Aranda Tibidabo.

Despite appearances, you can eat there at a reasonable price. For example, they offer four set-price menus (from 40 to 50€ p.p.) which will allow you to sample a set of deliciously cooked meat dishes as well as some very typical starters (such as jamón ibérico, the roasted peppers or the rice black pudding among other). Their speciality is the famous roast suckling lamb and/or pork.

I have to say that the premises, known as Torre Roviralta, are something worthwhile, located in a Modernist house built at the turn of the 20th century by the famous architect Rubió i Bellver for a rich family of "indians", the nickname by which those that emigrated to the "Indies" (the Caribbean) and had made their fortunes there and later returned filthy rich to their birthplace here in Catalonia, and I am sure you'll all be very pleased. Before that, the property, also known as White Monk, was the property of the religious Dominican Order for two centuries and they used to cultivate wine in the estate -which was far bigger than it is now, of course.

To get there from the centre you could take public transportation (metro) and then walk 300-400 yards but I would take the easy way and just take a taxi, it's going to cost no more than 25-30€ at most. A note: on your way back, you'll need to walk those 300-400 yards to the square where the metro stop is located and there you'll be able to hail a passing taxi much more easily.

But again, there are literally dozens of other equally good suggestions in the city, some of which you're bound to be told by others in this thread.

ahhhg... Tramvia Blau is out of commission for the time being, and this time the repairs can take a longer time... the poor bast.ard is already 117 years old. The line though is served by a regular bus.

Thank you all for your quick replies! These were exactly the type of places I was looking for. Yes, my nephews are meat eaters and are at the age where they eat quite a bit. :) Thanks again!
