Barcelona Airport Hotel with a shuttle

I will be in Barcelona for 5 days and have decided to stay at the airport the evening before since we have an early flight the next morning. Has anyone stayed at Ciutel del Prat at the airport. They have a fairly good tripadvisor rating and a free shuttle?

Or are there other choices I should consider?

Thank you for any advice.

With a decent TripAdvisor rating and a free shuttle and for ONE night only, take a leap into the abyss and book it.

How early? If you are flying from the main airport it's a 20 minute taxi from Barcelona center. The taxi will leave you at the terminal. You can enjoy another great meal, have your hotel reserve a taxi for whatever way too early time in the morning. If you look at the time difference between a taxi direct from Barcelona versus getting a shuttle at the airport hotel, it's probably negligible. I'm a nervous traveler on travel days, but even I would not give up another evening in Barcelona.

+2 for Alan's post, particularly this point:

"If you look at the time difference between a taxi direct from Barcelona versus getting a shuttle at the airport hotel, it's probably negligible."

This is true of many cities and their "airport hotels." Of course, there are exceptions, but most of them involve either a hotel directly attached to the airport terminal where no shuttle is needed, or a city where the airport is far from the center. Neither of those situations seem to apply here. Since a taxi leaves when you are ready, but you have to wait for a shuttle, it's probably a wash time-wise.

For folks staying near Plaça de Catalunya, the Aerobus is very convenient. Separate buses go to Terminal 1 and Terminal 2 at least every 10 minutes between 5 AM and 12:30 or 1 AM. During the busiest part of the day, the Terminal 1 bus runs every 5 minutes. The trip generally takes about 35 minutes. The departure point is on the El Corte Ingles side of the plaza.
