Barcelona 4 nights

Hello all, My husband, 2 kids, and I are arriving in Barcelona June 8th In the later afternoon and as we are traveling from the US on the 7th we planned to just relax on June 9th. We don’t know how any of us will react to jet lag. Our tentative itinerary is to do Park Güell and Sagrada Familia on June 10th and Montserrat Monastery on June 11th. We would also like to see Camp Nou and the beach. From what I have read it sounds like Park Güell and Sagrada are good to visit in the morning. Does anyone have insight on that? Also, Montserrat, I have read things that say half day and some say full day. We plan to use public transportation. If anyone has any tips or advice for us, I would appreciate it. Walking tours? Timelines, etc.

I booked our Sagrada Familia tickets for the opening time which was 9:00 a.m. I would highly recommend that, as it gave us a bit of time inside before the basilica was totally mobbed with tourists. I was able to take some beautiful photographs without the crowds. We opted for the ticket that included the audio guide and then toured at our own pace. Our visit to Park Guell was early afternoon and although parts of it were crowded, we still had an enjoyable afternoon. The metro system in Barcelona was convenient and easy to navigate.

I agree that crowding is more of an issue at La Sagrada Familia than at Parc Guell, though you'll want to buy your tickets to both places ahead of time, because the ticket-purchase lines will probably be long. I would try to avoid visiting Parc Guell during the hottest part of the day in June, if possible. Be sure to allow sufficient time at LSF. I spent about 90 minutes there without ascending one of the towers, and I'm not a religious person, so I doubt that I stayed a lot longer than average.

I believe the Camp Nou Soccer Experience sells out early, so you should investigate that immediately, if that's how you hope to see the stadium.

With luck you'll be up to doing some sightseeing on June 9. Perhaps walk around the Barri Gotic, stop in a the Barcelona Cathedral, and walk down to the beach.

For Park Guell...what would be considered a late visit to avoid the hottest parts of the day?

Check the sunset time for your day.
Park Güell closes 9:30pm during the peak months (May to August).
I would book a time 90 mins prior to sunset, or to give you around 120 mins total at the park.
On June 11 for example, sunset is 9:24pm, so I would book 7:15pm or 7:30pm.
