Barceloana shoes shopping

Hi,

Heading to Barcelona next week and would like to buy a pair of comfortable work shoes for men. Any recommendations for a local brand or boutique store?

PS. What season of clothes shall I pack at this time? Short sleeves or long? Light jacket?

Thanks!

We are also headed to Barcelona in about 12 days. My husband likes Skechers Slip-ins as they are very comfortable to walk in and are easy to slip into/out of for airport security.

There is a brand I bought in Philadelphia, but is made in Spain: Pikolinos. They make many styles for men and women. The pair I have are short heeled booties with cork sole and heel. I wore them walking all over Philly last winter and am bringing them with me for our two weeks in Spain and Portugal, they are that comfortable. As they are made in Spain, I am guessing you will readily find them there.

Good luck - shoes are important!

Curious- how much do you figured you saved buying Pikolinos in Spain? That's one of my favorite brands.
On my last trip to Germany, I found Riekers, ( a German brand) at half the price as my comfort shoe store was selling them. I actually got lucky and found the exact pair I had tried on in the US.
Shoes are important! I pack fewer clothes so I can buy shoes- (carry-on only luggage.)
Safe travels!

Re: cost of shoes in Europe
I have found that European shoe brands are consistently 1/3 to 1/2 cheaper when bought there than when bought here. My favorite example is Mephistos. They are very well made and hold up very well, but they are too expensive for me to buy here. When we were in Spain a few years ago I noticed some sandals in a store window. I had admired them in Nordstrom’s, but at $300 they were not for me. Price in Spain, $150. I couldn’t resist.

Hi Pat,
Re: how much do you figured you saved buying Pikolinos in Spain?

It looks like the pair we got is selling around $200 on a U.S. site. We paid 110 euro in Barcelona. There should get tax refund (not sure how much as I am still waiting for credit card payment).

Jysel, I bought German shoes in Germany for half the US price. I think now I really need to go to Spain!😉

About 4 years ago I bought Pikolinos in Lisbon (yes, I know they are Spanish). I probably saved $50-75. It would have been more but the VAT refund window at the Lisbon airport was closed. Their real value to me is as a memento of my visit.
