B&B/hotel/air bnb in Madrid?

Hoping for recommendations for a place to stay for a couple of nights in Madrid in late-May. We arrive by air and will leave the city by train from the central station, good ground transit would be a plus.

Thanks in advance for all suggestions!

Having just returned (yesterday) from Madrid, I can report that we had a very enjoyable stay at Boutique Hotel H10 Villa de la Reina.
Located about half way between the Royal Palace and the Atocha train station, with easy access to taxi service (front door) metro (across the street) and a central location, major sites are a short walk (Prado, Thyssen Museum, Reina Sofia Museum, etc.)
Nice atmosphere, comfy with breakfast available. I paid $137/night for a double.

I was in Madrid in April 2015 and stayed in my favorite AirBnB of all time. It was just off the Plaza Mayor and it was completely charming, with a peek-a-boo view of the plaza. The only downside is that there was some noise at night from the many pedestrians below. However it still ranks as my top AirBnB experience, and possibly my favorite lodging I've used in all of Europe.

Hopefully this link will work: https://www.airbnb.com/users/13569734/listings

The host, Soraya, has 5 individual listings/studio apartments all in the same building.

Last fall we stayed at an amazing 2 bed 2 bath apartment 1 block off Calle Toledo in the La Latina district. The location was absolutely perfect. Walk to Plaza Mayor and Puerto del Sol, metro Latina near by. We were on Calle de la Cava Alta - super quiet street but so close to the action. I found it through mad4rent.com. They have many apartments listed. The person that met us to check us in was very, very accommodating - our flight was delayed and we did not reach the apartment until 3 am - she was very gracious about meeting us at that ungodly hour. Note that I found this same apartment listed on both AirBnB and VRBO at a much higher price - it was much cheaper on mad4rent. I would recommend both the company and the location - La Latina. Enjoy Madrid!

In early July of 2016 we stayed at the Hotel Europa Madrid for 4 nights, located on the Puerta del Sol in Madrid. Hotel is recommended in RSG. Not too far from Atocha train station. Puerta de Sol is also stop on the Airport Express Bus. Great location, comfortable hotel, good value.
