My partner and I will be in Barcelona during the week before Easter, departing on Easter Sunday. Any advice about how the holidays will present opportunities and/or challenges during that week? Pageantry, customs, closures, transportation...?

From what's been reported here from others, there's little in the way of either opportunities or challenges during Semana Santa in Catalonia, just business as usual, though it's a popular vacation week, so probably more tourists around then. If you want to see pageantry and customs, go to Andalucia.

I've been around Barcelona at Easter, and it's not such a big deal in terms of public events, certainly not as it is in Andalusia.
